HIGHLIGHTS:

Since this statistics report is two weeks late I forgot the daily details of for the above time, but the everyday summary would go something like this: wake, breakfast with host’s domestic helper named Renata, shower, coffee at desk while reading/writing/searching for work online, thirty minutes of Portuguese grammar excercises, TV or movie in Portuguese, lunch with family before the kids go to school, bus downtown, people-watch at 40 kmph from the window, read bus announcements like Portuguese flashcards, another coffee at an outdoor cafe, scratch notes I’ll never post in my pocket notebook, stroll the streets, talk to strangers at bakeries, talk to strangers at bookstores, talk to strangers at store when cellphone credit runs out at the worst possible moment, text my friend Justin, text my friend Monica, plan activities for the night with a storm of one sentence messages, read in the park, more Portuguese studies, coffee somewhere while waiting for Justin/Monica to get off work, lively dinner with friends, a play, a movie, a concert, a street market, conversation around plastic tables, cold beers sweating in the middle.
