Heavy Rains Strand Machu Picchu Tourists

The site on a sunny day

UPDATE: After a longer than expected vacation in Chile, I’ll soon reunite with Bob and Surly in Cusco, Peru. We had originally planned to bike the one day ride from Cusco to the Machu Picchu jump-off town, Aguas Calientes, then hike the two hours to the park entrance—avoiding the expensive tourist train and buses altogether. However, the recent flooding in the area may change our plans. This VIDEO gives an overview of the current situation. My thoughts go out to my Peruvian friends who may have been affected.
